WOW

Hi yee all out there. All I can say is wow. We are now officially two for two. I have now closed out our second trade for a halfway decent profit. We now have two profitable trades out of two. That makes us about 100% successful at this so far. This trade may very well have more to run on but I just do not want to get too greedy at this stage of the game. I will now reveal to yee all on what our second sucessful trade was. It was once again with one of my favs DXD. On 2/10/2009 we purchased 8 shares for $63.14 and now that I look back on this we should have went with 9 since we are on such a hot streek. Next time I make this trade or simular trade I might just do 9 or maybe 10. Only time will tell. This trade nets us about $51.28. This takes into account our buying and selling commision of $12 dollars times two which gives us a deduction of $24 right off the bat. We can ad our two successful profits together to give us a grand total profit for the two trades of $107.28. Not too bad for a week or so work. I did not even have to sweet. I am just glad to get these two trades behind us. Now I just have to decide on what to do with the profits. We could take the very conservative and safe root and buy some of our safe stocks such as coca cola or pepsi or the like or we could just use our proceeds to invest into the next trade. I will probably go with the later. Once again we will just have to feel things out from here and see what next week has in store for us. I am once again very tired and have to work tomorrow. So I think I am going to turn in early tonight. Have a great weekend everyone.

New trade results

Hello yee all traders out there. I am happy to report that so far our trade is above water. It is not unfortunately above water enough for us to close this trade out with a sensible profit. So we are forced to let this trade run for awhile longer. I have also started a buy and hold screen to show us if the trades we are doing are really making any sense to us or if we would be better off to just buy and hold. I am hoping that the trading is working and that we will finish the year out with some nice profits. Only time will tell if this will be the case. After all it does take more work to do a trading portfolio then simply buy and hold. I have for the most part been a buy and holder for most of my stock buying career. So this trading thing will also be fairly new to me. I will be there with you one and all hand and hand walking down this exciting path to hopefully make it in this world. I know that there are indeed other less stressful ways to make it then this but so far in this life I have not really seen any that I can really sink my teeth into. I have thought about being a trader for more than 10 years. And I think as many of you know I took the plunge into the market in the year 2000 with not very happy results. Back then I was very much a buy and holder and most of the literature that I read said that if you were going to put money out there then this is the way to do it. I have always thought that there must be a better way and knew this must be the case. This year however is the first year that I have actually put this theory to the test. Dont get me wrong I have made a good deal of profits with the buy and hold stocks that I have bought over the years. But there has always been a little voice in the back of my hear telling me that if you did it another way then you would of course make more profits. I played this mental games with myself and said well if I bought this stock here and sold it there then bought it back again here then I would have made this much money. It is one thing to look back at transactions and play back seat quarteback it is quite another to actually do it in real time and see if this is really the case. That is about all I have for now. Until next time let the good trades be yours.

New trade

Hello yee all out there. I have finaly decided to make a trade. I will place the fictitious paper trade tomorrow with our $500 and the little extra that we have from our last profitable trade. I am going to leave $500 in cash in case something better comes up but the $556 that we have from the other trade we will use for our new trade. I am going to keep todays entry fairly short today because I am tired and need to get up early for work tomorrow. I just was excited to tell yee all that a new trade will be made as of tomorrow. I will not disclose the nature of the trade until later on as usual. I am hoping that this trade will be as profitable as the first one but I am sure that this is just wishful thinking and am just hoping for any profit at all would be nice. I just wanted to tell you one thing before I close off. That doing these paper trades on this blog is almost as exciting as doing real money trades. I am not sure why but I just thought I would let you all know that. Well anyways I hope you all have a profitable week. I will let you know the results of this trade sometime later this week or next week. I will now sign off and try to get some sleep. Have a good one. Happy trading.

New trades ?

Hi everyone in investment land. I am sorry it has been a few days since my last entry. For one thing it was not totally my fault because my phone line was down last week so I was not able to access my blog. I have some financial data that I am going to analyz over the weekend and hopfully come up with a trade for next week. Right now we are still in cash and the way the market has been the last few days maybe that is a good thing.  There is one stock that I have seen that I would like to buy sometime in the far off future when we have some nice profits behind us. That stock would be GE. A very big company and one of the first dow components. I like the stock for the simple reason that it is now paying a dividend in the order of 8%. Because capital preservation is always law number one when you are a trader then we will have to buy GE when we have some nice safe profits behind us with some play money as it were to work with. If you have followed my blog for any amount of time you know that I would prefer to buy an index than an individual company just to play it safe. But there are once again some stocks that I have been analyzing for future purchase. These stocks would more than likely be of the buy and hold variety. Thats about all I have for now. I am going to watch the nightly business report and review some financial documents then hopefully have more to add for next week. Until then happy trading.

rollercoaster

Hi everyone I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far. I just got done looking over some of my favorite stocks and see that some of them are performing very nicely while others seem to be having a very hard time these days. I cannot reiterate this enough and I am sure that you all know this being the well seasoned veterans that you all are that this is definately by any stretch of the imagination a buy and hold market. I mean how can one buy some stocks and just sit there and wait for them to go up. Don't get me wrong I do have a buy and hold portfolio that has managed to go up. It has not had a very good year this passed couple of years or so but it is still there none the less and it is good to have a portfolio that performs somewhat OK no matter what the other indexs are doing. I think for now once again  for the trading portfolio I will stay in cash. The urge to trade crops up every now and again but I must fight that urge. If I were to do anything right now I would be playing the bear side of the trade. Which I have done before as you all well know. The market just cannot seem to make its mind up one which way to go ladies and gentlemen and until I get a good feel for which way it should go I am quite content to just sit in cash. I recently checked out some books from the library on blogging and hope to some day update this blog to be a little more professional with links and the like. I am as you all know still a novice blogger. Until then you will have to be content to read my mundane jibber jabber on which way I think the the market will go. I am going to sign off for now and hope to be back on with some fresh ideas for next time. Happy trading.
